SPCA Westchester is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Animal Transport and Events Driver to safely transport animals, staff, and supplies in support of our shelter, veterinary, and community outreach programs. This is a flexible, event-based position supporting Sunday adoption and community events. This position plays an important role in ensuring animals are transported safely while representing the organization in a professional and compassionate manner.

Schedule: Sundays
Flexible Sunday availability is required. This position does not have a fixed Sunday schedule. The driver will work Sundays as adoption and community events are scheduled, with start and end times varying by event. Schedules will be provided in advance. Typically, only one event is scheduled for a Sunday.


Responsibilities: 

  • Safely transport dogs, cats, and other animals to off-site adoption events, veterinary appointments, foster homes, and partner organizations. 
  • Drive buses, large passenger vans, and other fleet vehicles in a safe and professional manner. 
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of off-site adoption events, including loading and unloading animals, crates, supplies, tents, tables, and other equipment. 
  • Support staff during adoption events as needed. 
  • Ensure animals are transported safely, securely, and humanely at all times. 
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance concerns. 
  • Represent SPCA Westchester professionally while interacting with staff, volunteers, and members of the public.


Qualifications: 

  • Experience driving buses, shuttle buses, or large passenger vans required. 
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred; not required.
  • Clean driving record with a strong commitment to safety. 
  • Comfortable handling and transporting live animals. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. 
  • Dependable, organized, and committed to animal welfare. 

 

Hourly Rate: $22-$25/hour to commensurate with experience.
